FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions
Welcome to our FAQ page! We get many questions at Apt 34, mostly from neighbors wondering why we have so much bubble wrap, but also from tea and coffee lovers like you. Here are the answers to what you might be wondering about:
Q: Are your mugs microwave and dishwasher safe? A: Most of our ceramic and porcelain mugs are! However, because we use natural glazes, we recommend checking the specific product description. Our borosilicate glass is heat-resistant, but our terracotta prefers a gentle handwash to maintain its porous integrity. When in doubt, hand-washing is the kindest way to treat your mug.
Q: Why does my mug look slightly different from the photo? A: That is the beauty of the earth! Since our mugs are made from natural clay and fired in kilns, slight variations in color and texture are normal. We don't see these as flaws; we see them as the "fingerprints" of the firing process. You aren't getting a mass-produced plastic cup; you're getting a unique piece of stoneware.
Q: Is the glaze lead-free and food-safe? A: Absolutely. We wouldn't drink out of it, and we wouldn't ask you to either. All our glazes are 100% lead-free and meet food safety standards. "Material Truth" is our motto.
Q: How do I clean my terracotta mug? A: Terracotta is "breathable" and porous. We recommend rinsing it with warm water and a tiny bit of mild soap. Avoid soaking it in soapy water for hours, as the clay might absorb the scent unless you want your coffee to taste like lavender dish soap!
Q: Can I change my shipping address after ordering? A: If we haven't handed the box to the mail carrier yet, yes! Please send an email to customer@clayandmug.com
Once it leaves Donna, Texas, it’s officially on its journey, and we can't call it back.
Q: What is your dream for CLAY & MUG? A: Our "Apt 34" dream is to eventually move into a sunny studio with a giant kiln and a coffee bar for our neighbors. Every mug you buy brings us one step closer to that door.
